H-1B Salary Guess

by Xaplore

Real jobs, real certified wages. Is the pay higher or lower than the number shown? Same five jobs for everyone, new puzzle every day at midnight Eastern.

How to play

  1. Each round shows a real employer, job title, worksite city and fiscal year from H-1B Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) that the U.S. Department of Labor certified.
  2. Decide whether the median wage of those filings is higher or lower than the number shown. Rounds get harder: the number moves closer to the real wage.
  3. Five rounds a day, the same for everyone. A new puzzle starts at midnight U.S. Eastern time. Your streak grows each day you finish.
  4. Share your score as a spoiler-free emoji grid, then keep going in endless practice mode.

Where the numbers come from

Every job is from the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) LCA disclosure data: certified, full-time H-1B applications decided 2024-10-01 to 2026-06-30 (fiscal year 2025 and FY2026 quarters 1–3), as processed by our H-1B Salary Lookup (data as of 2026-10-18).

Each puzzle item groups certified filings by employer, job title, worksite city and fiscal year, and needs at least 3 filings. The answer is the median offered annual wage of the group (the lower end when a wage range was filed). Groups with a very wide spread or extreme values (likely hourly/annual mix-ups) were left out. 5,771 items from 203 well-known employers.

An LCA wage is the rate the employer offered on the application, not necessarily what the worker was later paid, and it excludes bonus and stock. Treat it as a base-salary signal, not a full compensation figure.

FAQ

Are these real salaries?

Yes. They are wages employers stated on H-1B Labor Condition Applications that the U.S. Department of Labor certified and publishes. Each answer is the median of at least three filings for the same employer, title, city and fiscal year.

Does the wage include bonus or RSUs?

No. The LCA wage is the offered base wage (annualized). Bonuses, stock grants and sign-on payments are not part of it, so total compensation at many tech employers is higher.

When does the daily puzzle change?

At midnight U.S. Eastern time. Everyone gets the same five jobs on the same day, so you can compare scores with friends.

Where is my streak stored?

Only in your browser (localStorage). Nothing is uploaded; clearing site data or switching devices resets it.
